Victoria Smith

Victoria Smith is a family lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. 12 years ago,
after years of litigation, Victoria Smith confined her practice to settlement work –
Collaborative Law (also called Collaborative Practice) and mediation. While Victoria
works with a broad range of clients, her practice focuses on serving professionals,
business owners and their spouses with high net worth or complex financial situations.

Her passion and life’s work is to help clients resolve conflict wisely and with
dignity. Victoria has conducted hundreds of successful mediations and collaborative
cases. She is a leader in the development of Collaborative Practice in Ontario and
Canada. Victoria is an internationally recognized trainer in the collaborative process,
negotiation skills and settlement advocacy, an Adjunct Professor of Collaborative
Lawyering at Osgoode Hall Law School. She has co-authored one of the first books in
Canada on Collaborative Family Law and has been interviewed on television, CBC and
other radio networks, and in the Globe and Mail and Toronto Star on the subject of
divorce. She also co-created a video for collaborative professionals on conflict
resolution advocacy for the IACP. Victoria is a former board member of the International
Academy of Collaborative Professionals and Collaborative Practice Toronto and a
member of Chestnut Collaborative Solutions (www.chestnutcollaborative.com), a group
of independent collaborative professionals providing collaborative services under one
roof.

Laurie Stein, LLB, MSW, RSW

Laurie helps families to find a more peaceful way through their separation. She
works closely with parents to create new and effective ways of communicating
to ensure that the children’s needs are met as a first priority. Parents and she
mediate and create a parenting plan and discuss parenting and child adjustment.
Laurie has over 25 years experience working with families, couples, children and
teens in therapy. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and is a Registered Social
Worker. Laurie is a faculty member of the International Association of
Collaborative Professionals and is also a trainer on the Collaborative Toronto
Training Team.
